The Bedroom Tax and IDS is in Denial

Bedroom tax scandal wrongly charged to 40,000 council tenants – and Iain Duncan Smith is ‘in denial’

Campaigners like myself said this Policy was unworkable way before April 2013. We said then that it was full of holes but no one listened.

I am pleased to see that Labour has said they WILL get rid of it and I support Ian Lavery’s Housing Benefit Bill going through the House now. It gets it’s 2nd Reading on the 28th of this month. I ask all people affected by the Bedroom Tax, or not, to get in touch with not only their own MP but Mr Iain Duncan Smith himself. Get your own MP to be in the House to support this Bill. Go along to Parliament yourself, watch the proceedings, show others that you care. You don’t have to be suffering the Bedroom Tax yourself to see what utter misery it is causing. Please support others that are …
Together we can make History, as it’s not that often 10 Minute Rule Bills go all the way and WIN!!!
Many Tribunals are being held and many result in favour of the TENANT.
Sadly, it is a long process and the Tenant is accruing arrears whist they wait.
Ask yourself, ‘Why can a Couple in Wales have it ruled that thay CAN have their own rooms, yet others can’t???
Ask yourself, why can Constituents in Grant Shapps area not have to pay for their bedroom if it measures LESS THAN 50 sq ft??? Yet in other areas they do!!
As we read above 40,000 People were wrongly billed for Bedrooms they did NOT have to pay for last year.
This was NEVER about ‘freeing up properties’ – if that were so, then the Policy would have included Pensioners (not that I would want them to have to move either mind!!) Yes Cameron and IDS, we all know why the you and the Tories didn’t want them included, you rely on their vote too much!
Time and time again FOIs have proved there are nowhere near enough properties for people to ‘downsize’ too.
We have already had deaths due to this pernicious and hated TAX. Let’s have no more.
REMEMBER, the money – HOUSING BENEFIT goes to the LANDLORD not the Tenant!!!
I totally understand that there is a Housing Crisis and that many people are in need of housing, but, this crisis is not the fault of either victim.
Here in Cornwall, 10,266 Properties have been sold under the RTB (Right To Buy). If the Loacal Authorities still had this stock would there be a shortage? If they were allowed to build with the receipts from the RTB scheme would there be a shortage?Stop Bedroom Tax
The Bedroom Tax has proved itself to be so wrong and in complete chaos.
They know it, I know it and YOU know it….. so please, do all you can to get rid of it. Get lobbying  your MP now!!
Thank You
